What do Charlotte homeowners say about V&S Tile & Bath?

Karin F.December 2025

“The kitchen started with pine cupboards from WAY back in the day. We hired someone that was recommended to paint the cabinets and that turned out horrible. V&S came in and saved the day!”

What's included in a kitchen remodel?

A kitchen remodel can take in any of these, one at a time or all together, and outdoor kitchens are on the list as well.

  • Kitchen design

A new layout, or the sink moved to a spot that works better.

  • New or refaced cabinets

New cabinets, refacing, or custom cabinets built where stock sizes leave gaps.

  • Countertop installation

Quartz, granite or solid surface, as new tops or replacements.

  • Backsplash tile

Set once the counters are in, or on its own through our tile installation service.

  • Kitchen flooring

Tile, luxury vinyl plank, or hardwood carried in from the next room.

  • Kitchen islands

Extra counter and storage, with or without a sink in it.

  • Drywall work

New walls, or repairs where the old cabinets come off.

  • Sink and faucet

Installed, and we coordinate the plumbing changes a new layout needs.

How does a kitchen remodel run?

  1. Free estimate

We measure the kitchen and go over what you want changed. Then you get a detailed estimate.

  2. Design and selections

Cabinets, countertop, backsplash, flooring, sink and faucet get chosen. Pick the countertop and the backsplash together if you can, because a granite with a lot of movement narrows which tiles look right beside it. You see a 3D rendering of the new kitchen before any work starts.

  3. Ordering materials

Cabinets are usually the longest wait. Having them delivered before demolition keeps the room from sitting torn out while an order runs late.

  4. Demolition and tear-out

Whatever the plan replaces comes out. If there's water damage under the old sink, this is where it shows up.

  5. Plumbing and walls

With everything open, the plumbing changes get made, island sink lines included. Then the drywall is patched or replaced.

  6. Cabinets and floor

Cabinets are leveled and fastened and the island goes in. A floating vinyl plank floor goes down after the cabinets so they don't pin it.

  7. Tops and finish

Countertops are templated on the level base cabinets, then cut and installed with the sink. Backsplash tile, fixture hookups and a final walkthrough with you finish the job.

Should you reface, paint or replace kitchen cabinets?

Refacing is usually the answer when the cabinet boxes are sound and the layout already works. The boxes stay and get new veneer, doors and drawer fronts, and the countertops can often stay put. It costs less than new cabinets and means far less demolition.

Replace them once the layout is changing or the boxes are damaged, often from an old leak under the sink.

Paint costs the least up front, and it comes down mostly to the prep. Karin F. had someone else paint her old pine cupboards before we came in, and her review above says how that turned out. If yours were painted badly, show us at the estimate and we'll say whether refacing or new cabinets make more sense.

Quartz, granite or solid surface countertops?

We install all three, as new tops or as replacements over cabinets you're keeping.

What does a kitchen remodel cost in Charlotte?

$13KWhere kitchen remodels start

Kitchen remodels with us start from $13K (our pricing as of September 2026). Two kitchens the same size can still come out far apart, so where yours lands depends on what changes. Cabinets tend to be the largest share, custom cabinets cost more than refacing, and moving the sink adds plumbing work.

After that come the countertop material, the backsplash tile, how much floor gets replaced and any drywall that turns out damaged behind the old cabinets. When you compare kitchen remodel quotes, check that each one covers the backsplash and the floor, since a quote that leaves them out looks cheaper than it is.

Questions about kitchen remodeling in Charlotte

Do you remodel kitchens in Union County and Cabarrus County?

Yes. Both are in our service area along with Mecklenburg, so a kitchen in Indian Trail, Waxhaw or Concord gets the same free estimate as one in Mint Hill. Every kitchen service on this page is available there, from cabinet refacing and countertop replacement to a full remodel with a new layout.

Can you replace just the countertops in a Mecklenburg County kitchen?

Yes, countertop replacement is a job we take on by itself. The cabinets underneath get checked first, since they have to be level and sturdy enough for stone. The sink is disconnected and reinstalled, or swapped for a new one, and a tile backsplash often has to be redone because its bottom row usually breaks when the old top comes out.

Does V&S Tile & Bath do whole kitchens, or only tile?

Whole kitchens. Despite the name, kitchen remodeling is one of our main services, covering layout, cabinets, countertops, backsplash, floors and islands, and the same crew stays on it until the walkthrough. Smaller kitchen jobs are fine too, like a new backsplash or new countertops over the cabinets you already have.

Can we use the kitchen while it's being remodeled?

Not for most of a full remodel. Once the countertops and sink come out, the room is a work zone until the new tops are in and the sink is hooked back up, so a lot of people set up a coffee maker and a microwave in another room for that stretch. A countertop or backsplash job takes the kitchen out of use for much less time.

Is there room for an island in a Charlotte kitchen like mine?

Often, as long as people can still walk around it with the dishwasher and oven doors open, and we measure for that at the estimate. An island sink means running drain and water lines to the middle of the floor, which is far easier over a crawl space than on a slab. Stools on the far side need an overhang, and a stone overhang needs support.
